　　甲骨文“父”字是手握石斧之形，本义为“父亲”之“父”。当时，年长男性多持斧从事体力劳作，故以手持斧可视为家长的象征。

　　The oracle bone script form of “父（fù）” resembles a hand holding a stone axe,originally meaning “father”.At that time,older males often used axes for physical labor,so holding an axe was regarded as a symbol of parenthood.
