黍,去皮后称黄米,比小米稍大。“黍”字字形,下面表示谷物的根部,中间为枝干,上面的分叉表示谷物的叶,几个小点,示意颗粒成熟而脱落,或说像水滴。
When peeled,the grain“黍(shǔ)”is also known as glutinous millet,which is slightly larger than millet.The bottom of the oracle bone script for the character“黍(shǔ)”represents the root of the grain,with the center part as the branches,and the forks above represent the leaves of this grain.The severals malldots indicate that the grains are ripe and fall off,or like waterdrops.
