　　“夏”字甲骨文，字形上面是表示太阳的“日”，下面是表示跪坐之人的“页”，以人在烈日下的形状，表示天气炎热。

　　The oracle bone script form of the Chinese character “夏(xià)” consists of the “日(rì)” representing the sun on top, and “页(yè)” below, symbolizing a person kneeling or sitting. This combination depicts the scorching weather of summer, with the person under the blazing sun.
